Answer

Printers are connected to p.c. and MacIntosh computers on 1st and 2nd floors (Information Technology Services): the Learning Commons on floor one has three printer stations located along the north, east and south corridors, the Library Collections side of first floor has a printer station and the I.T.C. on floor two southeast quadrant provides several print stations. For mobile computing systems the ITS Help Desk provides WebPrint instructions to print from your home, dorm, or wireless network to a networked printer. NOTE:

As of August 20, 2014, the iPrint service has been replaced with a new service called WebPrint that simplifies and streamlines the process of printing Office and PDF documents from your home, dorm, or wirelessly connected device. See http://its.uiowa.edu/support/article/102875 for more information and instructions for using WebPrint.

To connect mobile devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones: current UI students and employees should use the UI’s eduroam wireless network. Visitors needing access to printers at the UI Libraries may request a guest-ID to log onto UI Libraries-only computers and print keys purchased from Food-for-Thought Cafe in the Main Library, Pat's Diner in Pappajohn Business Building and EMRB Cafe. Visitors to the University of Iowa campus who select the new "attwifi" network when configuring a device on campus receive no printing access.

To scan book pages, articles or other images, use flatbed scanners alongside a half dozen computers among the Learning Commons and 2nd floor computer labs. Stand-alone scanners in the Main Library include:

  • Two large-format self-service photo-imaging scanners on 1st floor central Service Commons.
KIC Bookeye-4® and BookEdge scans images that may be saved to USB drive or sent via e-mail.
Near the Reference Collection, first floor, Main Library.
  • A large-format scanner (11x17 inches) on 2nd floor Music Reference and Reserve room 2006. See hours for Music Library resources in Main.

For university scan/imaging business services, visit University Printing Services, ph. (319)335-2699. Copy Center 3, ph. (319)335-0861, in the Pappajohn Business Building room 102C. The Hub box office window, first floor of the Iowa Memorial Union.
