Start with the research guide to United States Government Information.  Choose the "Congress" tab for federal legislation.  If you're looking for state laws, begin with the guide to Iowa and State Government Information.  Choose the tab for "Legal Sources", "Legislation", or "Judicial."  Contact information for subject specialists who can help with additional research assistance is included with these guides.
