UI Libraries has many encyclopedias, both general and subject-specific ones. Branch libraries often have subject-specific encyclopedias near their Information Desks. Main Library Reference has a variety of encyclopedias both available in print and online, which you can find in our non-circulating reference collection.

To search for encyclopedias, we recommend starting in InfoHawk+, the UI Libraries' catalog. To do this, you can go to advanced search under the InfoHawk+ search bar from the Library's home page, Then the keyword encyclopedias and select subject using the search filter. To find encyclopedias available in book and ebook format, select the book filter under resource type on the left.

Here is a link that applies these filters and the encyclopedias that come up: link to search query.

For a full list of our online encyclopedias, visit the link below.

  1. see my comment about the dictionaries entry Also - instead of linking to Kelly's guide (which I'm not sure he updates because he inherited it from someone), I liked how you linked to the A-Z list for dictionaries, so do that for encyclopedias, too - https://guides.lib.uiowa.edu/az.php?t=5121
