It's a good idea to learn more about a potential employer before applying for a job and especially before interviewing.  Being aware of a company's history, its products and services, its subsidiaries, its financial performance, it competitors, and current news about the company can be invaluable.  With this type of information close at hand, you can better tailor your application materials (cover letter, resume, etc.) to the job and you will be better prepared for an interview.
