How do I access the Bloomberg terminal virtually?
Answer
Bloomberg has discontinued remote Terminal access as of June 30, 2022.
Access is available at the BizHub / Business Library in PBB ONLY.
If you do NOT have a Bloomberg Terminal account:
- Go to the BMC web portal at https://portal.bloombergforeducation.com/.
- Click "Sign Up."
- Click “Sign Up as Learner” and follow the instructions. Use only your UIowa credentials/email address.
- Once you have signed up, there should be a “Terminal Access” tab at the top of the dashboard—(if that isn’t an option click the “Resources” drop down and then “Terminal Access”)
- If you get a notification that your account must be authorized by a faculty member - then email willow-fuchs@uiowa.edu and request authorization
- Once authorized, Click Terminal Access and follow the instructions. Be sure to enter your UIowa email account.
- Verify identity. Bloomberg will call or text you to confirm your information. Expect a phone call from (212) 318-2000.
- Then, follow the directions in the email you receive from Bloomberg.
If/Once you have a Bloomberg Terminal account:
- Go to https://bba.bloomberg.net/.
- Enter your Bloomberg Terminal username and password.
- Verify identity. Bloomberg will call you to confirm your information. Expect a phone call from (212) 318-2000 after you create a login.
- Remote access is only one user at a time, and incoming users can kick current users off the Terminal: if User A logs in while the Terminal is being used by User B, User A will see a warning that s/he is logging into a Terminal that is currently being used. User A will have the option to kick User B off or try again later. If you have been kicked off the Terminal, this means a new user has logged in. PLEASE do not kick other users off the Terminal—if you are having a difficult time gaining access let us know and we will create a schedule for use.
