In general, textbooks are purchased or rented from one of the textbook suppliers for the University: The Hawk Shop, Iowa Book or Prairie Lights. You may also find textbooks on course reserve at a UI Library or they may be included in the Textbook Affordability Pilot from UISG & the UI Libraries.

Check with the bookstores about home delivery.

The library may have a copy of your textbook, but textbooks are often in high demand.

  • Your textbook may be available through our Course Reserves system.
  • Check for your textbook in the UI Libraries catalog or check Interlibrary Loan to see if you can get it from another Big 10 library

The UI Libraries will pay to ship books to students more than 30 miles from the UI campus and provides other services to support distance education.
