Do you need to drive to the Main Library?

If you are planning to drive to the Main Library, consider how much time you plan to be there and then determine which of the parking options will be best for you. See the details of closest parking lots here:

  • Library Lot (Lot 3) - open to public for paid parking 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. M-F and all day S-S for (see rates) Please note that the Library Lot is available for Faculty/Staff or student permit parking ONLY during business hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.
  • Stanley Art Ramp (Lot 63) - open 24/7 (see rates)
  • There are a few free, 30-minute, metered parking spaces on the road between the Main Library and the Stanley Museum
  • There are two metered, accessible spots off the northeast corner of the Main Library that can be accessed right off South Madison Street
  • Student Parking also has information about permits, and some of these will allow you to park in the Library Lot (Lot 3) during the day

Campus parking is managed by UI Parking & Transportation.

Would you rather take a bus to the Main Library?

There is a bus stop in front of the east entrance to the Main Library (0795), and also across the street at the Seamans Center (0151).

Would you rather ride your bike to the Main Library?

There are bicycle racks on the north and south sides of the Main Library.

There is also motorcycle parking in the Library Lot. At the southwest corner of the Main Library, there's a small, separate lot for motorcycle parking 24/7 by permit only.
