Requesting Items from other libraries

Students, faculty, and staff can request items not owned by the UI Libraries by logging into their Interlibrary Loan Account and requesting the items. Typical requests consist of books or book chapters, scanned copies of journal articles, and other research materials.

Faculty Requests

If you are a faculty member or graduate student interested in a journal subscription the UI Libraries does not currently subscribe to, reach out to your subject specialist librarian to discuss options.

Iowa City Public Library

You can also check if the Iowa City Public Library has the item needed. Access their website to check.

Suggest a purchase

University of Iowa faculty, staff and students can recommend that we purchase books, DVDs and other materials using our purchase request form. You must enter your Hawk ID to submit the form.

Talk to a librarian about alternatives

If you are in a time crunch or would simply like to expand your search, talk with a library to see if there are alternative sources that you could use for your research.
