Yes, you can. We have a set of anatomical models available for check-out at the Main Library Service Desk. For a description of the models available, please refer to this guide: Anatomical Models at Main: Human Physiology Resources.
InfoHawk+ shows a list of the models that are currently available. [Searching in InfoHawk+, search "Main anatomical model."] If the model you need has already been checked out, you will see a note telling you it is unavailable. This can give you a rough idea of what is currently being used, but during busy times before tests, you may be unable to rely on that "due back" time. Often, students wait for their turn to check things out as soon as they are turned back in.
- You will need your ID to check out the model.
- Go to the Main Library Service Desk and ask for the model you need to study. You can also request to view the binder for visual reference to available models.
- Models can be checked out for 2 hours only. Please return all models to a staff member at the Service Desk.
- Only two models can be checked out per patron at a time. Due to the limited number of models, we encourage students to share them.
- Anatomical models are for Library Use Only. They cannot leave the Libraries.
- Model keys are available by scanning a QR code on the model's stand.
- If you need assistance reassembling the models, ask for help at the Service Desk.
Additionally, if you are interested in anatomy, the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences has an Anatomage Table that you may want to visit. Find out more here: https://guides.lib.uiowa.edu/anatomage/
Our policies for checking out anatomical models ensure that all students have a chance to work with this learning tool. Please leave a comment below if you have any questions or concerns so we can improve this service.
