Yes, you can. We have a set of anatomical models available for check-out at the Main Library Service Desk. Please refer to this guide Anatomical Models at Main: Human Physiology Resources to see a description of the models available.

InfoHawk+ shows the list of the models that are currently available. [To find the list of models in InfoHawk+, search "Main anatomical model".] If the model you need has already been checked out, you will see a note of when it is due back. This can give you a rough idea of what is currently being used, but during busy times before tests, you may not be able to rely on that "due back" time. Often students are waiting for their turn to check things out as soon as they are turned back in.

  • Go to the Main Library Service Desk and ask for the model you need to study. You will need your ID to check out the model.
  • Models can be checked out for 2 hours. Please return all models to a staff member at the Service Desk. (Do not use the book return.)
  • Only two models per patron can be checked out at a time. Due to the limited number of models, the Libraries encourages students to share them.
  • Anatomical models are for Library Use Only.
  • Keys to the models are available by scanning a QR code on the model's stand.
  • If you need any assistance reassembling the models, ask for help at the Service Desk.

As a side note, if you have an interest in anatomy, the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences has an Anatomage Table that you may want to check out. Find out more here: https://guides.lib.uiowa.edu/anatomage/

Our policies for checking out anatomical models are in place to make it possible for all students to have a chance to work with this learning tool. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns by leaving a comment below so we can try to improve this service.
