The answer depends on whether the UI Libraries has Public Performance Rights (PPR) to the film. In general, our licenses for films on both physical (DVD/Blue Ray/Tape) and streaming media allow for educational use. We do not generally pay for Public Performance Rights but some of our films include them anyway.

  • Streaming movies - Use the Online Video Guide's PPR tab for information on finding streaming films that include PPR.
    • Streaming services like Amazon, Hulu or Netflix that cater to individual accounts do not generally allow public performance of their content. Check your license agreement to be sure.
  • Physical media in our collection - Ask your friendly librarian for help finding films with PPR or search Infohawk+ using this search string - PPR OR "public performance rights". (The "quotation marks" ensure those three words are searched together as a phrase.) Limit your results to a format you can use.
  • Films without PPR - You will need to contact the copyright holder to secure PPR for your show. The Online Video Guide has some information about that.
