Q. Can I check out movies at the library?

Yes, the library has a large collection of movies. Since our media collection is a closed collection, you will need to request a film in person or online so the staff at the Main Library Service Desk can retrieve it for you.

You can search InfoHawk+ by title to see if we own a particular DVD. To get an idea of recent feature films we've received, use Advanced Search in InfoHawk+ to search on the subject words feature films. (Use documentary films if that's what you are seeking.)

You may also request videos in advance and pick them up a half day later at the Main Library Service Desk. This is possible through the Request option in the InfoHawk+ item record, located in the Find in Library tab. You must sign on to InfoHawk+ to request items. You will receive an e-mail in your UIowa e-mail account when the video is ready for you at the Service Desk.

Headphones and remotes for video stations only are available for checkout from the Service Desk. We do not provide headphones for use on other computer equipment.
