The Main Library has two different types of KIC scanners, a Bookeye or overhead scanner, useful for scanning large images from above and a BookEdge scanner, great for scanning individual documents and book pages.

Bookeye scanner instructions:

Place the item opened to the pages you want to scan on the scanner. This overhead scanner scans images from above. Simply place the item facing up.

The bed also flips up to form a v-shaped cradle for careful handling of especially fragile items, such as old books or items from Special Collections.

Bookedge scanner instructions:

Open the book to the page you wish to copy. Place book face down with the side you wish to copy laying flat, with the other half hanging off the scanner as shown:

Select 'Accept & Scan'

You can preview the page, as shown before continuing. To rescan the page, hit delete and start over.

Once you are satisfied with your image, proceed to step 3 and select 'Email PDF' or you can save to a USB inserted into the scanning monitor.

End the session and delete the images.
