Where can a patron go on our website to set up an appointment with a librarian?

Answer

First off, THANK YOU for making a referral to a librarian! That's great!

There are several ways you can help patrons find a librarian to work with.

  1. Contact --- Find your librarian by subject directory
Click on Contact on the right side of the top menu bar of the library home page. Then scroll down to find the link that says "Find your librarian by subject." Please encourage the patrons to call or email the friendly librarians.

  2. Guides
You should be able to find a guide that covers the discipline that the student is working in. Once you've found that guide, the librarian's contact information is there and the student can email them or call them. Many librarians also have an online option to "Schedule Appointment" listed. (Example)

  3. Research Consultation form:
From the top menu on the library homepage you will find the 'Services --> Research Consultations' link. Show the patron how to find that form by walking them through the clicks on your computer. This form is especially handy because they don't need to request a particular librarian. We'll figure out who they should work with and get back to them through email.

TIP: This isn't online, but the librarians' business cards are in a rack on the counter behind the Service Desk. If you've identified the librarian the patron should be working with, you can simply hand them a card. (Don't worry if you've picked the wrong person. You should try your best, but if it's not the right person we'll just refer them again.)
